Copy Nature #2: NAILS
Part of Copy Nature #2, a project initiated by the Beeldenstorm foundry in collaboration with Onomatopee.
NAILS feature the first results of our research into the manual production of nails. The Copy Nature #2 has started with the theme ‘metal + 1′ and we have chosen nails, as they are one of the oldest manners of connecting and creating wooden constructions.
Pavo
Pavo is a space divider made of folded paper with wooden feet.
The feet and both sides of the paper are printed using silk screen with a lined-pattern, originally hand-drawn with felt-markers. The folding lines are being embossed using blind-print technique.
Once folded a unique visual effect appears on the screens’ surfaces through the wrapping and deformation of the lines.
Origamaster Shades
Mastering the secrets of folding, long before the invention of paper itself, the immortal Origamaster has been traveling through time and space for many centuries. The few who had the chance to see him, could swear that he’s surrounded by a cloud of rapidly moving hands..
Being a very private person, the Origamaster has decided to create a piece which will help him to be less recognized while being among the living – folding a thin sheet of transparent plastic has been the perfect solution for that!
Golden Glory Nr. 005
A special clock of the Golden Glory series.
Made for Design Act Moscow.
Mixed Animals Polygon
Why does an elephant have such a long nose? We naturally associate certain proportions and patterns to certain animals. A system of magnets and separate pieces allows one to challenge these associations. Create a whole new world of species!
A one-off edition, based on BCXSY’s Mixed Animals from the 2007 PLAY! collection.
Coiled for Editions in Craft
BCXSY was invited to take part in EiC’s kick-off project, in collaboration with the Siyazama Project a bead craft collective of women from KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa , initiated by professor Kate Wells.
Coiled consists of a series of interior accessories that finds inspiration in traditional ceramic vessels – earth wares constructed by hand coils of clay.
City of Light
Kaleidoscope Cabinet
BCXSY has just completed the Kaleidoscope Cabinet – a modular jewelry display for the new concept shop, RA which will open in Antwerp on the 17th of October 2009.
The Kaleidoscope Cabinet features a simple construction, consisting of oak plywood, mirrors and hardened-glass, which achieves a striking visual effect and a unique manner of displaying the exhibited jewelry pieces.

PLAY Around!
a BCXSY design-special for the Dutch Design Week 2007.
as part of the Laboratory Bazaar exhibition at the Smalle Haven, BCXSY demonstrated how new design concepts, ideas and creations come to life, using everyday and 2nd hand objects. BCXSY’s experiments resulted in surprising, humorous (and sometimes not-really-useful..) new objects.
