Curator Suzan Russeler of the Audex Textile Museum in Tilburg, the Netherlands, has invited us to design the space and graphics of her exhibition, i FABRIC. EUROPEAN TALENT.

Besides for the beautiful pictures taken by Joep Vogels we have also prepared a short film to give you some impressions of the exhibition space.

NeoFarm was the exhibition we have curated and designed for the 5th anniversary of the Lodz Design Festival in Lodz, Poland.

Exhibition- and graphic-design of i FABRIC : European Talent curated by Suzan Russeler for the Audex Textile Museum, Tilburg, The Netherlands.

The clean and minimalistic design emphasizes the lightness of the exhibits achieved through having almost all the works suspended from the ceiling, partly hung as mobiles, gently moving by the airflow in the exhibition space. The result is an exhibition space which functions as a supporting background to the presented works and enhances their qualities, rather than being a concurrent.

As part of the Copy Nature #2: Elementary Sentiments – a project by the Beeldenstorm foundry in collaboration with Onomatopee, we will be presenting NAILS.

The project will be exhibited at the Onomatopee space, Bleekweg 19, Eindhoven.

Our Destilled Nature vases are taking part in the O’Clock exhibition which opened last week at the Triennale Design Museum, Milan. The exhibition is produced in partnership with luxury watch brand Officine Panerai, with Silvana Annicchiarico and Jan van Rossem as curators, and a special exhibition design by Patricia Urquiola.

For the 5th anniversary of Lodz Design – Poland’s prominent design event, BCXSY was invited to curate and design one of the two main exhibitions;

NeoFarm features the work of more than 20 designers – some well-known along fresh emerging talents.

“..Choosing different works and placing them side by side is like building our very own farm – a place which provides our basic needs along with some of our utmost desires. The chosen objects are often ‘animated’ through the use of references to our life and our surroundings, and through the positioning in a relevant context..”.

BCXSY took part in Copy Nature #2, a project initiated by the Beeldenstorm foundry in collaboration with Onomatopee.

NAILS feature the first results of our research into the manual production of nails. The Copy Nature #2 has started with the theme ‘metal + 1′ and we have chosen nails, as they are one of the oldest manners of connecting and creating wooden constructions.

Using sand-casting techniques and self-made phosphor bronze (being stronger than the commonly available bronze) we have looked into different possibilities of creating uncommon shapes of nails, allowing new ways of constructions. Each nail is manually ground and polished – a process which is time consuming yet gave us the opportunity to pay attention and look further into the various aspects involved in this project;

The nails are forming visible joints which emphasize their function and aesthetics, and result in an ‘exploded-view’ -like appearance.

Copy Nature #2 will be exhibited at the Schellens Fabriek, Onomatopee space during the Dutch Design Week 2011. For more information click here.

The London Design Festival has started yesterday (Saturday 17th of September) and we are happy to invite you to see our Origin part I: Join project which is exhibited in two great locations: the Victoria & Albert Museum, which has recently acquired the first edition of the screens will present them for the first time (more information here), and also Established & Sons will showcase the screens at their main showroom (5-7 Wenlock Road, N1 7SL London) – click here for further details.

The Origin part II: Balance rugs are now on display and available through the S. Bensimon shop, HOME AUTOUR DU MONDE, 8, rue des Francs Bourgeois, 75003 Paris, and will also be taking part in Via Milano, September 24th – October 2nd, RAI Amsterdam – Hollandhal (during the fair ‘de Woonbeurs Amsterdam’). Some words from the selection committee: “With this duo, there is an obvious cooperation between various crafts and the designer. This cooperation results in a beautiful language of form and renewed appreciation of working methods that have passed into oblivion. The designers re-examine the world and share their ideas with craftsmen from around the world. Their designs emerge from an almost demure attitude and create a poetic visual language that is always different and never ceases to surprise. Magnificent.“
