Here, looking at an iconic, traditional form language, and reimagining it in a different context, new objects are envisioned.
A shelf turns into a sofa.
A sofa turns into a side table.
The outlines of a circular display shelf, define the different parts of a sofa.
Through playfulness and rearranging, the cushions, but also the ones seating on the sofa, may become the exhibited elements.
Turning around an axis, a side table is created.
Its two halves may be joined, to complete a full circle, but can also be used separately, combined with the sofa.
DESIGNEW is a collaborative project to foster broader recognition for the world’s most innovative up-and-coming designers and companies. To this end, it invites the most innovative up-and-coming designers worldwide, connecting them with China’s most professional R&D enterprises. They team up to design an interpretation of our annual theme, yielding exceptional works and building bridges that endure.
